Unit of Dermatopharmacology-Cosmetology

     The Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Technology, of the University of Athens, has been operating since the early 1980s and is housed in the premises of the Faculty of Pharmacy, inside the University campus in Zografos. Our qualified personnel has many years of experience working with raw materials and new active substances on the development and evaluation of cosmetics, biotechnology products and drugs.

     The Laboratory operates a Small Animal Models Unit (specialized and rare), in which toxicity tests of raw materials are carried out, as well as assessments of efficacy on finished products.

     Taking into account our Cell Culture Unit, it is also possible to evaluate all the above in monolayer or multilayer cultures derived from human or animal tissues (primary cultures - cell lines - skin equivalents).

     Coming down to the Cosmetics Industry, the necessary equipment, as well as the scientific experience for the development of innovative products, and the evaluation of cosmetic product claims are available. Both in vivo and in vitro studies can be provided.

     Finally, concerning the Food Industry, our main goal is to upgrade every Greek product using valuable nutritional elements in order to upgrade and certify it as a "functional food" with scientifically proven benefits for the human body.
